I still have no idea what kind of bass this is...

We're all about kicking a Chad when he's down

Mercy Lounge - Nashville
Myspace Mixer 4
w/ Verbena Court Strut band, Former, & Deadsun

The last time we were at the Buzz with Aljon, he invited us to play at this benefit for the National Kidney Foundation. While we obviously don't care too much about our livers (or eardrums), we were happy to come out and support this good cause. We also love coming out to play with our friends in Deadsun, as well as some old friends of the band who now play with Former. Also, this was my first time seeing Verbena Court. There are a lot of bands here in Nashville (including Verbena) that get my white butt shakin no matter how much I resist. In retrospect, it probably looks funny. I promise to stop. At least stop using the pole.

Tonight was another in a string of shows with equipment failures. After the onstage amp failure at the CD Release show, it looks like it was my turn. The set was going great until Poser, and when that first verse kicked in (you know, the drum-and-bass section), my bass started cutting out randomly. I couldn't figure out if the problem was the bass or the cables or what, but I was lucky enough to get to borrow a bass from Henry (of Former) and borrow some cables from Dee (of Deadsun). Problem is, I don't know my way around a 5-string bass, so the rest of the show I got to stand pretty still and lock my focus in on the fretboard. Deadsun even dedicated their song "Cursed" to us.

I have better cables now. Dan's next. Maybe he'll spontaneously combust.
