SPOUT - THE PHOENIX
Midwest Entertainment Conference
Lexington, KY
w/ CircleFour
Regional music conferences are always great to be invited to, or even
accepted into. This was the Midwest Entertainment Conference in
Lexington, KY. After the last conference we played had trouble
just keeping the power on during our performance (see 9/13/03
in tour diary), we were hoping for the best in this one.
We show up only to find legendary film star David
Carradine there chilling at the bar. We later find out he has
his own band who were chosen to play this same club we were
playing. He was to play it the following night with our good
friends "CircleFour".
We were excited because a rep from Hoffman Entertainment - New York City
was flying down to check us out. We spent our time before the show
lingering around this ballroom. This loud..... loud.....
ballroom. This was a place suited more for the Glenn Miller
orchestra and his swingin' WWII 1940's jams.
This was one of those rooms you didn't need amplification. It was
so loud you could make people's ears bleed by playing an Enya song
acoustically.
We saw some old friends and new friends and was pleasantly surprised
when people we knew ended up there in the middle of KY with us.
There was a 2+1/2 hour standstill traffic jam on I-65 for some who were
following us up from Nashville. That fucking sucked, I know.
It was good that they were able to make it to at least catch the rest of
the set.
We hung out in a jazzy little bar down the street after the show and got
more familiar with our management interest!
They had George Dickel.
need I say more?
.....and the night ended very well. :)
around 4-5am at a Hardee's.
