SPOUT - THE STAGESTOP
Memphis, TN
Lounging around Memphis all day (from having a show there the night
before) can be fun, chaotic, spontaneous, interesting, and much
more. I ended up spending alot of time in this record store I
found by chance that had a lot of old 45's I could put in my jukebox
back home. I bought one of Queen.
We chilled by the Mississippi river all day taking a shit load of funny
pictures. Followed by a group of kick ass spout fans from
Nashville who drove to Memphis (one of them celebrating their birthday),
it was time to meet up at the club for soundcheck.
It turns out we have major time to kill, so we go on an hour or so
adventure in a certain direction to find an Applebee's which turned out
to be only 10 minutes in the opposite direction from which we
started. Can you say, U-TURN?
We broke the word record of U-turns this day. Somebody check on
that.
The show was fun. Brandon (first time ever) broke a string in the
middle of the show just as the crowd was at its peak. So we
started an improv country song - mocking the fact that we're from
Nashville and are there to bring the rock.
Then, it turned into fully distorted rockin' version of the Jerry Lee
Lewis classic "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On".
The place is jumpin', I tell ya.
I enjoy technical mishaps now because they force you to spark something
unexpected and new out of you each time.
