Back from BG / The belt, p.11

What an awesome weekend! Adam and I missed the party that was the drunken day spent at Put-in-Bay, on the island in the middle of lake Erie, but we were along for the ride that ensued. After rolling in to the Jones domicile at 5 am, we spent the rest of Thursday putting up some last-minute flyers, wonking several unsuspecting pedestrians (more on this later), and then bringing the rock to Howard's that night. The opener, Crazy Eddie, performed their final show that night, so they made the most of their goodbye and played till about 12:30.

We finally started playing around 1:15 and experienced a "shocking" host of technical problems, most of which were aimed squarely at Stacy. I'll let him go into the details of that in the tour diary later. It may be a while before that update sees the light of day, but these kind of mishaps are things you don't easily forget. All in all, it was a good, energetic show, which was exactly what we needed.

Friday was spent almost entirely at Cedar Point, which kicked ass. Stacy lost his rollercoaster virginity (7 times over), and we rode the fastest coaster on the planet that night. Nothing like 122 mph out in the open to cap off your day.

Saturday was pure relaxation, with Courage's first birthday party that afternoon and then just chilling out all night long. What an awesome kid. He climbs stairs like a pro.

Tonight was the drive home and unloading the gear. Now we start working on this week's show: the radio interview/acoustic set in Bowling Green, KY.

I'll let Adam give his side of the story later on and post some of the pictures we took, since he's got them all right now. In the meantime, I give you the belt's farewell picture. It's impossible to see 'cause of the flash, but on the left I marked the belt with the SPOUT name and the months of domination that the local buzz band battle saw from us: 3/05, 4/05, and 5/05. Here's to more in the future, perhaps. Oh, and if you've wondered what Aljon looks like, wonder no more:

The belt comes home.
