SPOUT
Birdy's -Indianapolis, IN
So, this is one of those "Congrats! You were chosen to be apart of this
amazingly hard to get into and highly selective conference..." We
rolled into town, went to the mall and picked our complimentary
conference passes which gave us access to all Midwest Music Summit shows
that were happening... we find ways of entertaining ourselves and see
the best that Indi has to offer... until it's time for the show..
We show up at the club and hear country music blasting. It's the
band before us. We load our gear in and proceed to take the stage
to a huge country crowd. ha! Let me share with you this,
though... in the middle of the set we start hearing a huge clutter
of noise bouncing off the walls and back at us on stage... we're in the
middle of "Suicidal Idol" and the band drops out on the chorus... well
according to this particular soundman's settings, no one dropped out.
haha.. yes! the band hits the last note and it echos.. and
repeats... and echos.. and repeats.. over and over during the soft
guitar/vocal part... meanwhile when I'm singing the words "Leave it to
me to pick a suicidal idol"... all you hear is "leave... leave...
leave... leave.. leave... leave... leave...*murmur* .. idol.... idol...
idol.. .. idol... idol...
this went on throughout the night... along with other crazy
misfortunes...
oh well.. to all who saw us on this night..
we were just as surprised as you were.. :)
p.s. fast forward on the
tourdiary to the next memphis hard rock show... another funny
"suicidal idol" soundman playground! :)
What is it about that song that inspires a soundman? :)
by the way..... this all made for a
weird show, yes.. but wow we really did love Indianapolis.
