SEPTEMBER 13 - 2003

2nmc
GUIDOS OUTDOOR STAGE
NASHVILLE, TN

For those of you who don't know what 2nmc is, its one of the top 5 biggest music conferences in the nation.  They select bands from around the nation to perform within a 3 day period and invite every producer, a&r label rep, janitor, you name it, out of the woodwork to network with each other.  If you're lucky, you'll find someone who has heard of you.  We had a great week at 2nmc.  We met booking agents, producers, managers, promoters - who to our liking had all heard about us during their stay in Nashville.  We met label reps who wanted to hear our stuff, other bands who were very cool, etc..  Great week for networking.  Plenty of free beer, and good talent.  Chad and I even did an interview for the Nashville Pulse show which will be aired on TV. in the coming months.  It's their special on 2nmc!

As far as our showcase, we were told that Guidos had "specially requested us" this year.  We were going to make the best out of it, because we were told it'd be an all ages free show.   I think they actually charged people to get in though, not sure.  We showed up and caught "for all the drifters" who were doing a great set.  I actually work with the lead singer's uncle in my studio.  He's an amazing steel guitar player (plays with Kid Rock and Hank Jr.).

The power went out during their set... and eventually ours.  Turns out, they didn't have any power to do a show like this.  My amp wouldn't even warm up the tubes  but half way!  Get this, .. they were running $400 worth of orange extension cord to Guido's and to the starbucks down the street!   God forbid someone make an espresso while we're playing.   That's probably what did it.

Anyway, the only thing we could hear on stage was the delays on the vocal.  This was funny.  For instance, come and get it.... is now,  come and get it it it it it it...... and in a drama goes like this "drama ma ma ma ma ma", the sound man was experimenting on us, it seemed.

It made me laugh! and even some people in the audience....So I started singing " It's all in your head head head.... nobody gives a damn.... It's all in your head....lets give this girl some delay!!!.!." then I started  purposely repeating lyrics to mock the delays we were all hearing.  Smartass, I know.. but I had to have fun with the situation.   Luckily a friend of mine went and told the soundman to fix that shizznit!  haha.  That rocked.

We thought it was going rough, due to all the sound problems and power problems,  but we did a fun rockin' version of make up your mind and ended on a good note. :)

Oh well, from time to time there will always be nights like these.  Just hopefully not "too" often!  We practice hard, damnit... so it sucks when you're a victim of one person's knob twisting.
that sounded perverted.
