GIG - SEPTEMBER 19, 2003 - CJ's Landing - Atlanta, GA

Traffic jam on I-24.

Where's Jason? ...... oh.. behind the camera.  We are alone, aren't we.

A friend in SC had an interesting dvd collection.

So we left him a little present for him to find when he returned.
The dvd in loop mode, with the dvd-case surrounded by
tissues and a white substance starting with an "s"....
(you guessed it.. shaving cream)
Imagine finding that on your table when you come home.

Thanks Pete for the hospitality.  You rock.

SEPTEMBER 19 - 2003

CJ's LANDING
ATLANTA, GA

Time to pack our bags, our sandwiches, our cd's, our equipment - shove it all into our u-haul and hit the road.  After a slow start with the construction on I-24, we finally got into Atlanta in time for our soundcheck.   This is a new club in Atlanta that we'd never played before.  Curtis, the soundman there had previously been a big fan of Spout and had been wanting us to get our asses down to Atlanta and play again.  This night was billed as 3 bands.... but the local big-dawgs from the ATL, who were to headline the show - cancelled out.  We were looking forward to playing in front of their crowd.

We parked away from the club and walked, since they wanted $10 from us to park at the club. (the lot wasn't owned by the club).   Right before we go on, I'm blocks away at this parking spot trying to find the key to our explorer, which had dropped between the two seat belt fasteners in the back seat.   Of course there's no streetlamps anywhere to help with the pitch dark factor.

It's time to go, so I walk up hill and then a few blocks , into the club, and straight on to the stage and start off "come and get it".   It was "GO GO GO!"time.  I don't know why,... we were told there were to be hundreds of college kids any minute coming thru those doors.  They were all coming by bus.   We play a hot sweaty set to a small but attentive crowd, including a few familiar faces - which was nice. We're told to cut our set one song short.  So we dropped "We Are The World"...  and on the last song "Make Up Your Mind",  bam... in comes the college kids.... lined up at the door as we're taking down our equipment.

Timing ... eh ?

Oh well, we had fun... sold some cd's of our new debut album - told the peeps about our next show in Atlanta (on the 30th).

What did we learn from this show?
From now on.... always get your performance contract in writing.

The club completely changed their payment policy at the last minute without ever saying a single word to us about it.  We had an agreement.  We were lied to.  That simple.
We learned our lesson.

Now its time to load up, get our asses to South Carolina to stay with some friendly folks who know us, and then its up to Winston-Salem, NC for Saturday night's show.
